Beware of Fake Turnitin Reports: What to Check Before You Pay
Looking for a Turnitin check? Learn what to verify in a report, which warning signs need follow-up, and what a Textsure check includes before paying.
Before paying for a Turnitin report, check more than the logo or percentage. Ask what reports you will receive, compare their content with your exact manuscript, and keep the original downloads and order details. A branded PDF or Submission ID alone does not establish authenticity.
What is a fake Turnitin report?
A fake report presents invented, altered or unrelated results as the outcome of a Turnitin check on your document. It might reuse pages from another paper, alter a displayed result, or present a different detector's output under Turnitin branding. These are risks to check for, not a claim that every inexpensive service is fraudulent.
A report-style preview is different from a completed check. A sample should be labelled as a sample and must not present made-up results as findings about your uploaded paper. Ask whether a displayed result comes from a completed check or is only an illustration.
Check that the report belongs to your manuscript
Start with the document itself. Read several passages from different parts of the report alongside the exact file you submitted. A familiar title on a cover page is not enough if the pages underneath belong to a different draft or paper.
Use the following checks together. Any mismatch is a reason to ask for an explanation, not automatic proof of forgery: document conversion, report settings and product versions can affect presentation.
- Compare the title, filename and submission information wherever those details appear.
- Check that passages throughout the report correspond to your submitted manuscript, including the relevant highlighted text.
- Look for unexplained changes in document identity or submission details between pages.
- For similarity results, review matched passages and the source information supplied, rather than only a summary screenshot.
- Request the complete report files included in your purchase. A cropped image cannot show the full context.
Do not mistake a normal report state for a fake
Turnitin's AI-writing indicator and similarity score are separate results. A similarity percentage is not an AI-writing percentage, and an unavailable AI result must not be presented as a zero result.
Current Turnitin guidance suppresses AI results above 0% and below 20% as *%, without an exact percentage or highlights. Reports generated before 8 July 2024 may show a numerical low-range score. Check the report date before comparing an older example with current guidance.
A different layout does not prove a report is fake
Do not rely on a checklist of fonts, logos or highlight colors alone. Genuine interfaces and exports change, and a copied design can still look convincing.
For example, Turnitin's 4 August 2026 release notes describe replacing the two-color English AI-writing view with unified blue highlights. A difference from an older screenshot may reflect a product update rather than fabrication. Check the generation date and relevant product documentation rather than judging by a single screenshot.

Ask these questions before choosing a checking service
If a previous checking service has stopped working, compare the replacement's actual deliverables before uploading or paying. A low price, a high price or a claim of official status does not by itself establish that a report is genuine.
- Will this purchase include similarity, AI-writing results, or both for an eligible document?
- What will I pay for one document, and does a revised submission cost extra?
- Are completed report downloads available, and how do I contact support about a mismatch?
- Will the document be added to a comparison repository, and what are the file-handling terms?
- Does the service explain processing and failure handling, rather than promise a particular score?
What a Textsure Turnitin check includes
Textsure provides a paid Turnitin check for eligible academic documents, with similarity and AI-writing reports and available PDF downloads after completion. It is a separate service from Quick AI: a Quick AI writing-pattern review is not sold as a Turnitin result.
A single check uses 1,000 Credits. The $9.99 USD Starter pack supplies 1,000 Credits as a one-time purchase, with no subscription or automatic renewal. A revised document is a new check. Your document is processed without being added to Turnitin's comparison repository.
You do not need to buy a Turnitin account or share a university password. Sign in to Textsure, review the service requirements, and follow your check and completed downloads in My reports. Textsure is an independent service, not the Turnitin website.

Common questions
Does a Submission ID prove that a Turnitin PDF is genuine?
No. An identifier printed on a PDF is not independent verification. Check the manuscript content and submission details together, and ask the service that supplied it to resolve discrepancies. If you have authorized access to the original submission record, use that record as part of your review.
Is a cheap Turnitin check always fake?
No. Price alone does not establish authenticity. Compare the included reports, document handling, support and actual delivered files. Do not assume an expensive service is genuine either.
What should I do if my report looks unrelated or altered?
Keep the original report download, submitted file and order details. Ask the supplier to explain the specific mismatch and provide the report files promised in the purchase. Do not edit a report to make it look correct or present an unresolved result as verified.
